The Canara Bus Owners Association has withdrawn the silent protest, which was planned to be held on August 23, against the additional toll fees on buses at the Hejamady and Sasthan toll plazas.
The protest was called off following a notification from the National Highways Authority of India on August 19, stating that the collection of the additional fees has been temporarily suspended until further notice.
Kuyilady Suresh Nayak, the association’s General Secretary, has said that they will resume the protest if the additional toll fees are imposed again.
On Monday, a petition was submitted to MP Kota Srinivas Poojary and Additional Deputy Commissioner Mamatha Devi requesting support for the protest. The highway department was also informed about this issue.
