Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly received cautious support from the Congress high command regarding the MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) case. While legal backing has been assured, sources indicate that the high command has advised Siddaramaiah to be prepared for any eventuality.

In a meeting attended by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, AICC General Secretaries K.C. Venugopal, and Randeep Singh Surjewala, only Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar were present from Karnataka. The high command reportedly issued a subtle warning about the potential challenges in the legal battle ahead.

The high command reportedly cautioned that the party would stand by you in any legal fight, whether in the High Court or the Supreme Court. However, Siddaramaiah was advised to be cautious about the potential challenges that may arise, citing examples of cases involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. It was emphasized that Siddaramaiah’s actions should not become a weapon for others to use against the Congress, sources said.

Upcoming Elections:

The potential impact on the upcoming elections in four states: Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra were also discussed. The high command emphasized that these elections are of national significance for the Congress. They warned Siddaramaiah that any developments in Karnataka could impact the party’s prospects in these states. Therefore, the verdict expected from the Karnataka High Court on August 29 holds significant importance for Siddaramaiah’s political future, sources added.

Message to Siddaramaiah:

  • The high command will support you in any legal battle.
  • Be cautious about the legal challenges ahead.
  • The Congress is unlikely to follow the path of Kejriwal and Soren.
  • Your actions should not become ammunition for others against Congress.

No Changes in KPCC Leadership:

According to Congress sources, there was no discussion about a cabinet reshuffle or changes in the KPCC (Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee) leadership during the high command meeting. Hence, such developments are unlikely to occur at this time. The high command was briefed in detail about the MUDA case, including the actions of the Governor, the opposition, and the ongoing political developments in the state.
