Belagavi: Following the controversy over actor Darshan receiving special treatment in Parappana Agrahara Prison, there are speculations that he might be transferred to Belagavi Hindalga Central Jail.
After photos and videos of Darshan enjoying royal treatment in Parappana Agrahara went viral, the prison department has been on high alert.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the authorities to transfer Darshan to another prison. As a result, discussions are ongoing about Darshan’s possible shift to Belagavi Jail.
Hindalga Jail, which has a century-old history, has 15 vacant “Andheri Cells” (dark cells). The prison authorities have reportedly gathered information about these cells, and an announcement about Darshan’s transfer is expected by Monday evening.
Seven prison officials have been suspended following the viral photo and video of Darshan. State Home Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed that seven officials were involved in the incident and have been suspended. The jail superintendent will also be transferred, and further action will be taken against senior officials if they are found guilty.
