The controversy surrounding the allocation of MUDA plots in Mysuru has caused a significant stir in Karnataka’s political circles. In response to the Governor’s approval for an inquiry into the matter, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah filed a petition questioning the legality of the permission.
During Thursday’s hearing, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi represented CM Siddaramaiah. After hearing the arguments, the court has scheduled the next hearing for Saturday, August 31, at 10:30 AM. The interim stay order has also been extended, providing CM Siddaramaiah with two more days of relief.
The controversy began when private complaints were filed by T.J. Abraham, Snehamayi Krishna, and Pradeep, alleging irregularities in the plot allocation. Based on these complaints, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission for a detailed investigation against Siddaramaiah. However, Siddaramaiah challenged this decision in the High Court, arguing that the Governor’s approval for the inquiry, under Section 17(a) and Section 128 of the Indian Penal Code, was unconstitutional and legally invalid, as it disregarded the advice of the state cabinet.
