Gundlupet: KSRTC bus wheel detaches mid-journey, passengers escape unharmed
PTI, Aug 29, 2024, 8:01 PM IST
The passengers on a KSRTC bus escaped unhurt when the front wheel detached while the bus was in motion near Kodahalli village in Gundlupet Taluk.
The incident occurred as the KSRTC bus, traveling on the Gundlupet-Chachahalli route with over 55 passengers, including students, suddenly lost its front wheel due to a broken rod. The bus veered off the road, but due to the low speed at the time, no one was injured. All passengers were safely evacuated.
Passengers expressed anger towards the depot management, criticizing them for negligence. Many buses operating in the rural areas of Gundlupet are in poor condition, leading to repeated incidents. Passengers warned that if the depot managers do not take immediate action, they will be held directly responsible for any future accidents.
Local residents and passengers also highlighted that the bus involved in the incident was old and poorly maintained, attributing the mishap to neglect by the maintenance staff. They called on MLA H.M. Ganeshprasad to take strict action against the depot managers and ensure such incidents do not recur.
