Bengaluru: The depression formed over the Bay of Bengal, along with the trough extending along the eastern Arabian Sea from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala coasts, has raised the likelihood of heavy rains across Karnataka. An orange alert has been issued for 13 districts in the state on September 1 (Sunday), with warnings of heavy rainfall.

Districts likely to experience very heavy rainfall include Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Ballari, Vijayapura, Gadag, Bagalkote, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru. As a precautionary measure, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for these districts on September 1, followed by a yellow alert on September 2.

Widespread rainfall is expected to continue along the coastal districts until September 4. Winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 55 km/h along the Karnataka coast, and fishermen have been advised to exercise caution.

Moderate Rain Expected in Bengaluru

Bengaluru city and its surrounding areas are likely to experience moderate rainfall over the next 24 hours, with generally cloudy skies. Wind speeds are expected to range between 30 and 40 km/h. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 27°C and 20°C, respectively.
