A leopard that had caused anxiety among residents of Savanalu village has been successfully caught in a trap laid for it by the Forest Department officials.

The leopard had been spotted two months ago and the residents notified the Forest Department officials, who then set up a cage near the house of one Gaurikanda Anand Shetty. A chicken was placed inside as bait.

In the wee hours of Sunday, the leopard entered the cage to capture the chicken and became trapped, bringing relief to the local residents.

The Forest Department was informed, and officials arrived at the scene.
