Kaup: A young man, who was on the verge of drowning while setting out for traditional fishing, was rescued by locals at Kaup Beach on Sunday, September 1.
The youth, identified as Sachin (31), a resident of Padugrama, Kaup, faced the danger of drowning while fishing. He had ventured into the sea with a fishing net but soon found himself struggling in the water.
Alert locals immediately raised an alarm. Fishermen Sharma and Harish Karkera swiftly entered the sea and managed to rescue Sachin.
During the rescue, the boat used to pull Sachin out capsized. However, lifeguards stationed at Kaup Beach, along with local fishermen Balakrishna, Lokesh, and Shivaji, and members of the Coastal Security Force, quickly responded.
