Senior journalist Vasant Nadiger passes away

Bengaluru: Senior journalist and editor of Samyukta Karnataka daily, Vasant Nadiger, passed away early Monday morning due to a heart attack in Bengaluru.

Vasant Nadiger, originally from Ranebennur in Haveri district, had worked in Kannada journalism for over three decades. Despite holding a degree in Chemistry, he was drawn to journalism and began his career at Samyukta Karnataka. Over the years, he worked at leading publications such as Vijaya Karnataka and Vishwavani. For the past two years, he served as the editor of Samyukta Karnataka.

Nadiger is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and a large circle of friends and colleagues. Known for his sharp headlines and insightful writing, his sudden demise is a significant loss to the field of Kannada journalism.

Condolences from CM Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his grief over the passing of Vasant Nadiger. In a social media post, the CM shared that Nadiger’s demise has deeply saddened him. He acknowledged Nadiger’s valuable contributions as the Senior Assistant Editor at Vijaya Karnataka and later as the Editor of Samyukta Karnataka.

The CM stated that the journalistic community has suffered a major loss and offered his prayers for Nadiger’s soul to rest in peace. He also extended condolences to Nadiger’s bereaved family.
