Bengaluru: Drugs worth Rs 3 crore seized, 7 arrested

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police, as part of their special operation against drugs, have arrested seven people, including a woman. Drugs worth Rs 2.99 crore have been seized during the operation.

Police Commissioner B. Dayanand revealed during a press conference on Tuesday that some of the accused had been importing drugs through India Post. One of the accused, Abhishek Gowda, a resident of Nelamangala, was arrested for importing drugs from Belgium via India Post and selling them in the city. Drugs worth Rs 1.50 crore were seized from him.

Ganja Seized:

In another case, a man named Shijin, hailing from Kerala, was arrested. He resided in the HSR Layout area and, along with his friend, was found to be importing hydro ganja (Marijuana) from Thailand through the postal service. Drugs worth Rs 50 lakh were seized from him.

A man named Rounak Gupta from Meghalaya was also arrested for bringing ganja to Bengaluru through India Post and selling it in the city. Five kilograms of ganja worth Rs 40 lakh were seized from his apartment in Hongasandra.

A man named Kareem Beig, who was selling ganja near Rose Garden in the Viveknagar area, was arrested. Police seized 10 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 10 lakh from him.

Manipur-based Persons Arrested:

Two drug peddlers from Manipur, Tareeq Aziz and Ikram, were arrested for smuggling heroin from neighboring states and selling it in Bengaluru. Tareeq Aziz was arrested near Yeshwanthpur, and drugs worth Rs 75 lakh were seized from them.

Additional Police Commissioners Satish Kumar, Raman Gupta, and CCB Chief Chandragupta were present during the press conference.

Foreign Woman Arrested Again After Jail Release:

A woman, named Rose, a citizen of a foreign country residing in Vidyaranyapura’s 8th Main Road, was arrested again for drug peddling. Police seized drugs worth Rs 10 lakh from her residence. She had been previously arrested in 2023 under the NDPS Act by the KG Nagar Police and was in judicial custody. After being released on bail, she resumed her involvement in drug trafficking, according to the police.
