Bengaluru: Puttur man arrested for smuggling ganja to fund sister’s wedding

Bengaluru: Banaswadi police have arrested a man for allegedly smuggling ganja (marijuana) from Odisha to Bengaluru for sale.

The accused, Badruddin, hailing from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district, was apprehended with 5 kg 20 grams of ganja, valued at around Rs 1 lakh.

According to the police, Badruddin, who was working at a hotel in Bengaluru, had resorted to drug peddling due to financial difficulties.

He reportedly traveled to Odisha on the advice of an acquaintance and smuggled ganja to the city with the intention of selling it.

Badruddin confessed to the police that he was struggling to make ends meet with his hotel salary and had taken up the illegal trade to fund his sister’s wedding.
