A 38-year-old man has been booked under the POCSO Act in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor college student.

The accused is identified as Satish, a resident of Vitla.

Reportedly Satish met the student from a college in Nelyadi on June 14 in Puttur. Later he kept in contact with her over the phone and developed a rapport. On July 21, he allegedly called her to Nelyadi, took her to a forested area in Kanchana village, Bajathur, in a pickup truck, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim, in her complaint to the Uppinangady police, alleged that the accused threatened to kill her if she informed anyone about the assault.
