Mangaluru: In a tragic incident at Bajpe, a man lost his life after mistaking a venomous Russell’s viper for a non-venomous snake and attempting to catch it with his hands.

The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Poojary (55), a resident of Bajpe.

On Thursday, a snake appeared in the local area. Ramachandra, wrongly assuming it to be a harmless snake, caught it with his bare hands. The snake bit him on the hand, but he reportedly did not take the bite seriously and went home. However, his health worsened by evening, and he was admitted to the hospital. Despite treatment, he passed away on Friday.
