Bommanahalli police arrested a man after receiving a complaint about a gold theft. The accused, identified as Aditya Reddy (22), was arrested for stealing 107 grams of gold jewelry worth Rs 7 lakh and a 100-gram silver deity mask from his own home.
According to the police, Aditya had accumulated significant debts due to his addiction to online gambling. His family, preparing for his elder brother’s wedding, had purchased gold jewelry and stored it in their home’s locker. While his parents were out distributing wedding invitations, Aditya broke into the locker and stole the valuables.
Upon discovering the theft, the family immediately lodged a complaint with the Bommanahalli police. During the investigation, the police found that the house door had not been forced open, raising suspicion about an insider. Tracking Aditya’s mobile phone location to Yelahanka Railway Station, the police arrested him before he could flee to Hyderabad.
Police said, Aditya later confessed to the crime during interrogation, admitting that he had stolen the jewelry to pay off his online gambling debts. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
