Bengaluru: The State BJP Milk Cell has issued a stern warning to the Karnataka government regarding the proposed hike in Nandini milk prices. Raghavendra Shetty, the convenor of the BJP Milk Cell, has urged the government to withdraw the proposal immediately. He threatened a massive statewide protest against the government if it fails to reconsider the move.
In a press statement, Shetty criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly directing the Cooperation Minister to raise milk prices during a meeting in Magadi. He condemned the government’s decision, noting that the people of the state are already grappling with rising costs of essentials like water, electricity, and rent. He emphasized that the government should first release the pending milk subsidy for farmers before considering any price hike.
H.D. Kumaraswamy Slams the Government for Exploiting Consumers
Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy criticized the state’s proposal to raise milk prices, calling it an exploitative move. He questioned how the government could burden consumers while claiming that the additional revenue would go toward farmer subsidies.
Kumaraswamy also pointed out that the government had previously reduced incentives to milk producers by Rs 1.50 to Rs 2 in certain districts, contradicting their claims of helping farmers. He accused the government of lying about supporting farmers and claimed that both consumers and farmers were being neglected while the government reaped the financial benefits.
