Mangaluru: A 33-year-old lecturer from the city, tragically passed away after donating a part of her liver to a relative.

Archana had agreed to donate a portion of her liver to her husband’s relative, a woman who required a liver transplant. Despite multiple tests, no suitable donor was found, but Archana’s blood group matched, and she volunteered to donate her liver.

The transplant surgery took place 12 days ago at a hospital in Bengaluru, where a portion of Archana’s liver was successfully transplanted into the woman. Archana was in good health and was discharged from the hospital after the procedure.

However, four days ago, Archana suddenly fell ill and was admitted to the hospital, where she passed away on September 15. The woman who received the liver transplant is reportedly in stable health.

Archana was a lecturer at Canara College in Mangaluru before joining the Manal Srinivas Nayak MBA College on the outskirts of the city. She is survived by her husband, CA Chetan Kumar, and their four-year-old son.

The exact cause of Archana’s death remains unclear, leaving her family, friends, and colleagues heartbroken.
