Davanagere: Case booked for displaying Palestinian flag sticker on shirt during Eid Milad procession

Davanagere: A case has been registered at Davanagere Extension police station against an individual for displaying a Palestinian flag sticker on his shirt during an Eid Milad procession.

On September 16, an Eid Milad procession was held in Davanagere city. At Gandhi Circle on Old PB Road in the evening, a man allegedly wore a shirt with a Palestinian flag sticker with the intent of disturbing public peace. It is claimed that this act, allegedly done in collaboration with others, was aimed at disrupting communal harmony between different religious and ethnic groups.

Based on a complaint by a person named Nagaraj, the Extension police station has registered the case under sections 196(1)(b), 196(2), 61(2), and 3(5) BNS-2023. The case, numbered 149/2024, states that the act of displaying the sticker had the potential to incite public unrest and promote enmity between communities. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
