Bantwal: Thieves break into house, decamp with valuables while residents attend Eid Milad celebrations

Thieves decamped with valuables worth lakhs of rupees from a house in Manchi, on September 16, while the residents were away for Eid Milad celebrations.
A case in this regard has been registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station.
The theft took place at the house of Asma, a resident of Montimaru village in Manchi. The family had locked their house and gone to the mosque to watch children’s cultural programs on the morning of September 16, as part of the Eid Milad festival.
When they returned home at 12:45 AM from the mosque, they found that burglars had entered the house by cutting two window bars. The thieves broke open a cupboard in the bedroom and stole gold jewelry and cash amounting to Rs 1.33 lakh.
A gold chain weighing half a sovereign worth Rs 72,000, a gold ring worth Rs 24,000, a brass light worth Rs 12,000, and Rs 25,000 in cash.
Bantwal Rural Police Inspector Shivakumar and Sub-Inspector Harish visited the scene and registered a case. A dog squad and fingerprint experts were called in to investigate the crime.
