B’luru: Police arrest man for stealing laptops from workplace

Whitefield police arrested a man accused of stealing laptops from the company where he was employed.

The accused, identified as Murugesh (29), a resident of  Hosur, Tamil Nadu was working as system administrator at Technicolor India Pvt Ltd, a company located in Whitefield.

The company’s owner had filed a complaint with the police after over 50 laptops disappeared one by one from the office. Based on this complaint, the accused was arrested, confirmed Commissioner Dayanand.

Murugesh had been selling the stolen laptops to an old laptop repair and sale shop in Hosur, the police revealed. Police recovered the stolen laptops and its value is estimated at around Rs 22 lakh.

Financial Struggles Due to Tomato Crop Loss:

Murugesh, a BCA graduate, had suffered a loss of Rs 25 lakh while farming tomatoes in his hometown. Since he was unable to repay loans and interest, he began stealing laptops from his workplace.

After a complaint was filed, the company’s CCTV footage was examined, and it was discovered that Murugesh, was responsible for the thefts. He was subsequently arrested in Tamil Nadu.
