Manoj Kumar Kodikal, a corporator from Ward No. 17 of Mangaluru North constituency, has been elected as the Mayo and Bhanumathi P.S., a corporator from Ward No. 58 of Mangaluru South constituency, has been elected as the Deputy Mayor of the Mangaluru City Corporation.

The election for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor took place on Thursday at the Mangaluru City Corporation office. The event was attended by MP Captain Brijesh Chowta and MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty.

Due to the reservation for the SC category and the absence of Congress candidates, Manoj Kumar Kodikal was elected as Mayor unopposed. The BJP-led administration in the corporation will continue until February 27 of next year, meaning the tenure for both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will last for around five and a half months.
