Mysuru: An unexpected clash occurred between two elephants, Dhananjaya and Kanjan, brought for the grand Dasara festivities in Mysuru. Dhananjaya, one of the elephants participating in the event, confronted Kanjan, creating panic around the Mysore Palace premises.
The incident occurred on Friday night around 8 PM when Dhananjaya suddenly started attacking Kanjan, who was standing nearby. In the struggle, Kanjan broke free from his chains and ran around the palace grounds. Dhananjaya chased after Kanjan, causing further commotion.
Frightened by the chase, Kanjan ran through the Jayamarthanda Gate and headed toward the road near Doddakere Maidan.
As the elephants reached the road, people who were present nearby panicked and ran for safety. Vehicles on the road came to a halt as Kanjan stopped abruptly. However, the mahouts and caretakers managed to calm Kanjan and led him back inside the palace grounds.
Kanjan had suffered a leg injury during his transportation to Mysuru for the Dasara festival, which had exempted him from most of the training exercises. He had just recovered a week ago, but his unusual behavior during the incident has raised concerns.
