Kundapura/Gangolli: A fishing boat, Triseventy, was damaged after it collided with a large wooden log while at sea. Six fishermen on board were rescued by two nearby fishing boats. The incident took place in the deep sea near Kota.

The fishermen, Basava Kharvi, Pramod, Bhaskar, Vaikuntha, Shekhar, and Surya, were safely rescued. The boats, Varuna Siddi and Brindavan, came to their aid and helped bring the damaged boat to Hangarkatte port. The boat suffered significant damage, with an estimated loss of Rs 25 lakh. A case has been registered at the Gangolli Coastal Security Police Station.

Failed Rescue Attempt of Boats Stranded on Shore

Kota: Two boats, Jalasagara and Jala Janani, owned by Geetha from Saligrama and Bhavani respectively, had run aground on September 17 due to heavy winds and rain at Gopadi Charkikadu, after facing technical issues. Despite several efforts over the past four days to pull the boats back into the water with the help of another boat and technical experts, the operation failed.

Though the fishermen were unharmed, the boats suffered substantial damage. It is feared that both boats may be completely lost, with an estimated loss of Rs 30 lakh.
