Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Satish Poojary was taken into custody late on Saturday night (September 21) in Sagara. The arrest follows allegations that his provocative statements incited stone-pelting during a Ganesh procession in Davanagere on Thursday.

The incident reportedly occurred during the Ganesh idol procession in Venkabhovi Colony on Beteur Road, Davanagere, where tensions escalated, leading to stone-throwing. This resulted in injuries to several individuals, including two police officers, and damage to property such as cars and motorcycles. Stones were also reportedly thrown at houses along the procession route.

In a related case, Satish Poojary was also accused of making inflammatory remarks during a protest in Nagamangala. The protest was organized on Wednesday by the Sarvajanik Ganesh Samiti Okkuta, condemning a disturbance during a Ganesh procession in the area.

Police believe that these remarks may have contributed to the unrest during Thursday’s procession in Davanagere. Authorities are investigating the events leading up to the violence, and further action is expected.
