Bengaluru: The bail hearing for actor Darshan, the prime accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, was held on Monday, September 23.
Darshan (A1) and Pavitra Gowda (A2) had filed for bail in the case. However, after reviewing their plea, the 57th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court in Bengaluru postponed Darshan’s hearing to September 27.
Judge Jai Shankar granted the prosecution’s request for more time, delaying the hearing of Pavitra Gowda’s bail plea to September 25.
Darshan’s lawyers had filed the bail application in the 57th ACMM court last Saturday, and the hearing was initially set for September 23.
Bail for Three Others
Meanwhile, three other accused in the case, charged with evidence tampering, have been granted bail. Karthik (A15), Keshavamurthy (A16), and Nikhil Nayak (A17) were given bail by the 57th ACMM court.
The High Court had earlier granted bail to Keshavamurthy, who was held in Tumkur Jail, as his only charge was destruction of evidence. The court clarified that this bail order does not apply to the other accused.
Keshavamurthy’s lawyer, Ranganath Reddy, presented the arguments, and the bail was granted by Justice S. Vishwajit Shetty’s bench. After the murder, Keshavamurthy reportedly surrendered to the police after collecting an advance of Rs 5 lakh at a shed.
Actor Darshan, who is currently lodged in Bellary Jail, was recently visited by his mother, wife, and brother. He has been in jail for the past three months in connection with this case.
