Bengaluru: In a move aimed at providing convenience to working professionals, Karnataka’s 35 sub-registrar offices will remain operational on Saturdays and Sundays starting October 21, according to Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.

The new weekend registration schedule comes in response to public demand, especially from those employed in other states. Many individuals had requested weekend services to complete their registration processes. In light of this, the government has decided that sub-registrar offices will remain open on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, along with all Sundays. To balance this, Tuesdays will be a holiday for these offices.

Minister Gowda also mentioned that prior information will be provided regarding which sub-registrar offices will be open on specific days, allowing citizens to plan their registrations accordingly.

Additionally, Minister Gowda announced a campaign to address outdated land records in the state. Approximately 48 lakh agricultural properties still list deceased individuals as owners. Their children or legal heirs will now be given an opportunity to update these records. The campaign will be conducted at the hobli or village accountant level, with the involvement of local officials.

The minister also reminded citizens to link their Aadhaar with their land records (RTC) and advised families to resolve internal disputes or register pouthi khatas to avoid future complications.
