Bantwal: Thieves decamp with gold, cash from locked house

In a burglary that came to light on Monday, September 23 evening in Bantwal’s Sajipamunnur, thieves broke into a house by forcing open the door and stole valuables, including gold and cash worth several lakhs.

Details of the incident:

Jayalakshmi, a resident of Sajipamunnur village, had locked her house on September 7 and left for her mother’s home in Puttur. Upon returning home on the evening of September 23, she found the door lock broken and the window bars bent. It was revealed that burglars had entered the house, and upon inspecting the rooms, she discovered that items in the Godrej and bedroom were scattered.

The thieves had stolen two gold bangles weighing about 2.5 sovereigns and Rs 25,000 in cash from the Godrej cupboard. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at Rs 1,25,000.

Jayalakshmi has filed a complaint at the Bantwal Town Police Station.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to nab the thieves.
