Bantwal: 21-year-old youth killed in road mishap

Bantwal: One of the three persons who were seriously injured in a lorry-bike collision succumbed on Tuesday (Sept 24) while undergoing treatment.

The accident occurred near the Maripalla Junction, near Farangipete where a lorry collided with a bike, leaving all three riders seriously injured.

The injured were rushed to the hospital, but one of the pillion riders, a student, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Mangaluru on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Sevanth (21), a resident of Sullia.

Sevanth, a student at a private college, had been traveling to Sullia with his friends. After classes in the evening, he and two friends spent time in their room before heading towards Sullia around 2:30 a.m.

The accident occurred when the lorry driver, coming from the Mangaluru side, turned at Maripalla Junction to return to Farangipete.

Chetak was riding the bike, while Yatheesh and Sevanth were the pillion riders. Both the injured are still receiving treatment at the hospital.

The accident is believed to have been caused due to the negligence of the lorry driver, and a case has been registered at the Melkar Traffic Police Station.
