A massive protest was held on September 24, Tuesday, by the Hindu Hita Rakshana Samiti near Sullia Police Station, along the Mani-Mysore Highway.

The protest was organized in response to allegations that police had filed false cases against Hindu activists and also in condemnation of the inappropriate behavior by a non-Hindu youth towards a girl.

The protest began with prayers at the Kalkuda Daivasthana in Sullia. Following this, a procession led the protesters to the Sullia Police Station, where Hindu activists sat on the Mani-Mysore Highway, voicing their discontent.

The demonstrators raised slogans against the police and the state government, expressing anger toward specific police personnel at Sullia Station. They demanded the suspension or transfer of the officer.

Leaders like MLA Bhagirathi Murulya, A.V. Teertharam, Harish Kanjipili, and Naveen Neriya addressed the crowd, criticizing the handling of the situation and calling for justice.

Dr. Arun Nagegowda, the Puttur Subdivision Deputy SP, addressed the protesters, assuring them that a thorough investigation was underway. He also promised to convey their demands to higher authorities.

Police from Sullia, Subrahmanya, Bellare, Kadaba, and Puttur stations, led by sub-inspectors and supported by additional KSRP personnel, were deployed to manage the protest. After discussions with the police officers, the protest concluded. The demonstration, however, caused significant traffic jams in the town.
