Bengaluru: SSLC science exam mark distribution finalized, 20% marks allocated for difficult questions

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has finalized the mark distribution for the SSLC Science exam, allocating 20% of the total marks for difficult questions. Another 50% will be for moderately difficult questions, while the remaining 30% will be reserved for easy questions.

KSEAB has directed that 16 marks will be allocated to difficult questions, 40 marks to moderately difficult questions, and 16 marks to easy questions. The written exam will carry a total of 80 marks, with 28 marks assigned to biology, 27 to physics, and 25 to chemistry. An additional 20 marks will be allocated for internal assessment.

The board has also set specific criteria for the allocation of marks: 16 marks (20%) for recall-based questions, 32 marks (40%) for understanding, 16 marks (20%) for application, 12 marks (15%) for diagrammatic skills, and 4 marks (5%) for higher-order thinking skills.

The exam will consist of eight multiple-choice questions worth 1 mark each, and eight very short-answer questions, also worth 1 mark each. Additionally, there will be eight short-answer questions worth 2 marks each (totaling 16 marks), nine long-answer questions worth 3 marks each (totaling 27 marks), four long-answer questions worth 4 marks each (totaling 16 marks), and one long-answer question worth 5 marks.

In total, students will have to answer 38 questions for 80 marks in the science exam. The KSEAB has also released a list of 17 diagrams that may be asked under the diagrammatic skills section.
