Thunderstorm: Lightning strike damages house in Madanthyar

Madanthyar: A house in Urwaalu was severely damaged after a lightning strike on Monday evening.

The incident took place around 4 PM when lightning struck the house of Sesappa, a resident of Tharidadi. The impact caused cracks on the walls, and several electrical appliances were completely destroyed due to the surge.

Fortunately, Sesappa had gone to pick up his children from school at the time, preventing any injuries. The concrete house, built nine years ago, is reported to have suffered extensive damage, according to Sesappa.

Uppinangady: Heavy Rainfall Causes Widespread Damage

In Uppinangady, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning on Monday night led to significant damage across the town.

The area witnessed rainfall with hailstones, and the intensity of the lightning damaged electrical infrastructure, disrupting the power supply. Five electricity poles were broken due to the storm.

The weather was hot and sunny until the afternoon, but by evening, the sky was overcast, leading to heavy downpours. Strong winds ripped off roof sheets and sent advertisement hoardings flying. Several agricultural crops were also damaged.

Thunderstorms Across Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Several parts of Dakshina Kannada district experienced thunderstorms on Monday evening.

In Belthangady, thunderstorms began in the afternoon, while areas of Bantwal taluk saw heavy rain in the evening. Puttur also experienced strong rains with thunder, while Mangaluru reported a cloudy atmosphere with moderate rainfall.

The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rains across coastal areas. On Monday, Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum of 25.2°C.

Udupi Experiences Evening Rainfall

Udupi: Various areas of Udupi district witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday evening, following a hot day. Udupi, Manipal, Malpe, Kundapur, and Karkala saw intermittent rain.
