Pedestrian Hazard: Busy Bunts Hostel Circle left without footpaths!

Mangaluru: The Bunts Hostel Circle in the city has become a dangerous zone for pedestrians, who are forced to walk amidst vehicles due to the lack of a footpath.

The area, especially near the SL Tower, on the road from Jyothi Circle to Karangalpady, has no footpath. Even walking on the roadside is difficult, as the edge of the road is uneven.

To make matters worse, vehicles are parked in whatever little space is available, creating further congestion. Vehicles coming from Jyothi Circle towards PVS take sharp turns at the circle, driving dangerously close to the road’s edge, posing a serious threat to pedestrians.

Being a densely populated area with heavy traffic, this location sees a large number of pedestrians, including students and the general public. The absence of a footpath is particularly troublesome for senior citizens, women, and schoolchildren.

During the rainy season, this problem worsens significantly. There is an urgent need to construct a footpath using the available space and to first level the road by filling the potholes along its edge.
