Kulai: A large pit was dug near the access point to Kulai Beach, a popular tourist destination on October 1, following the orders of the Assistant Commissioner. The pit was created using a JCB machine, causing concern among locals and tourists.
The Deputy Commissioner, Mullai Muhilan, intervened in the matter and ordered the road to be restored to its original state by refilling the pit.
Kulai Beach attracts many tourists, and for safety purposes, security cameras had been installed, and a few benches were placed on the government land near the entrance under the supervision of Umesh Karkera. This had effectively stopped any unwanted activities in the area.
Despite this, the Assistant Commissioner ordered the removal of these security measures, and controversially, directed the digging of a large pit, which sparked the dispute.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner stepped in, considering the potential risk of road collapse due to heavy truck traffic and the safety of both tourists and locals. He ordered the pit to be filled.
The road is frequently used by locals and elders for accessing the beach and taking a brief rest in the evenings.
