Bantwal: Scooter rider succumbs to injuries following accident

A 33-year-old youth died at a hospital, on Thursday, a day after he met with an accident at Marnabail, Sajeepa Munnur village, along the Melkar-Mudipu state highway.
The deceased has been identified as Sarfaz (33), a resident of Barimaru. His pillion rider, a student named Jasmine (18), sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The accident took place on Wednesday, October 2 when Sarfaz was riding his scooter, taking his sister Jasmine to Deralakatte College. While traveling along the Melkar-Mudipu route, as they reached Marnabail, a bike, recklessly driven by a person identified as Imtiyaz, collided head-on with their scooter.
The force of the collision caused both Sarfaz and his sister to be thrown onto the road, leading to severe injuries.
They were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru. However, despite efforts, Sarfaz, who had sustained critical injuries, succumbed to them on October 3, according to police reports.
Melkar Traffic SI Sutesh visited the accident spot for further investigation.
