Bantwal: Officials raid illegal sand mining site; 20 boats seized

Bantwal: A joint team from the Bantwal Revenue Department and the Mining Department conducted a raid on an illegal sand mining operation in the Netravati River near Thumbe and Maripalla on Friday, October 4. During the operation, a total of 20 boats were seized.

As per the orders from the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, the operation was carried out with the support of the Bantwal Revenue Department and Bantwal Rural Police. The seized boats have been relocated to Adyar in Mangaluru Taluk.

No sand was found in any of the seized boats, and workers involved in the sand mining operation fled the scene during the raid.

Key officials who participated in the operation include Mining Department Deputy Director Krishnaveni, Senior Geologist Girish Mohan, Geologist Mahadeshwara, Bantwal Tahsildar Archana Bhat, Mangaluru Revenue Department’s Prashanth Patil, Bantwal Revenue Inspector Janardhan, along with village accountants and Bantwal Rural Police personnel.
