Uniform academic calendar for UG, PG announced — Admissions to begin from April 2025

Bengaluru: The Higher Education Department has taken a decisive step toward implementing a uniform academic calendar across all universities in the state. The department has released the schedule for the 2025-26 academic year, which will start in October 2024 and end in March/April 2025.

As per the new schedule, the admission process for undergraduate courses will commence from April 15, 2025, with the first-semester classes beginning on July 9, 2025. The semester will end on September 26, 2025. The admission process for postgraduate courses will begin from August 19, 2025, with classes for the first and third semesters starting from September 1 and ending by December 19, 2025. Examinations for these courses are scheduled to start on December 12, 2025.

The department aims to ensure that each semester includes a minimum of 90 working days, with classes conducted six days a week, as per UGC guidelines. Coordination processes for public universities under the purview of the department will begin on October 9, 2024, and are expected to be completed by March 31, 2025.

The schedule also includes details for professional courses such as BE, BTech, and BArch. The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) will conduct site inspections starting from April 10, 2025, and the last date for submission of documents to the state government is May 21, 2025.

Additionally, for postgraduate courses like MBA, MCA, MTech, and MArch, the VTU will carry out inspections from April 10, 2025, with May 21 being the last date for final approvals.

CET-UG on April 18 and 19

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to undergraduate engineering, nursing, veterinary, and other professional courses will be held on April 18 and 19, 2025. Results will be declared on May 28, 2025. The first round of counseling is scheduled for June 25, 2025, with the second round on July 10, 2025. Classes are set to begin from August 1, 2025.

For MBA, MCA, MTech, and MArch courses, the CET will be held on June 30, 2025, with results to be declared on August 5, 2025. Counseling for the first round will take place on August 26, 2025, and the second round on September 4, 2025. Classes for these courses will begin on September 10, 2025.
