Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal has issued a set of guidelines to be followed during the Navaratri and Sharada Mahotsava celebrations.
The use of DJ music has been strictly prohibited. Loudspeakers are also not allowed near hospitals and educational institutions. Organizers are responsible for ensuring the safety of the prasada distributed during processions and festival events, said the commissioner.
Participants in costume (veshadhaaris) must obtain permission from the local police station. Additionally, the costumes should not hurt the sentiments of any religion or community. Considering the Model Code of Conduct in place due to the upcoming Legislative Council elections, necessary permissions must be obtained through the District Election Officer’s single-window system, he added.
Before the installation of Sharada idols, organizers must secure approvals from MESCOM, the fire department, and local administrative bodies. Processions should only be conducted on routes approved by the police department, among other instructions announced by Commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
