Hubballi: Gang’s robbery attempt foiled; one robber injured in police firing

Hubballi: An attempt by a gang of robbers to loot a house was foiled after police opened fire on them near the Revadihal Bridge in the early hours of Monday. One of the robbers was shot and injured in the leg during the incident.
Around 3:00 AM on Monday, a gang of 5-6 individuals attempted to plunder the house of Rajnikant Doddamani in Gokul village. The residents woke up during the robbery attempt and immediately alerted the police. Officers from Gokul Road Police Station rushed to the spot and tried to apprehend the robbers.
When the robbers attacked the police in a bid to escape, PSI Sachin Dasareddi first fired a warning shot in the air. Subsequently, he shot Mahesh Kale, one of the robbers, in the leg, leading to his arrest.
The other gang members managed to flee the scene.
PSI Sachin Dasareddi and Head Constable Vasant Gudageri were injured during the scuffle. The injured robber, along with the two injured police officers, was taken to KMCRI Hospital for treatment.
Police sources revealed that this gang had been involved in several robberies in the Gokul area, including attempts on 2-3 houses in recent days. The gang had also attempted another robbery the previous night but was foiled.
A case has been registered at the Gokul Road Police Station. CCTV footage captured images of the gang, wearing half pants and monkey caps, scouting houses before breaking in.
