Shivamogga: Train services were disrupted late on the night of October 8 after heavy rainfall washed away gravel from the railway tracks, causing delays in operations.

Thanks to the alertness of trackmen, a potential disaster was averted. Due to ongoing track repair work, trains departing from Talaguppa to Bengaluru and Mysuru are running late.

The incident occurred near Sooduru between Kumsi and Anandapura railway stations, where the gravel was swept away due to heavy water flow on a sloped section of the track.

During their patrol, the trackmen noticed the washed-away gravel and immediately informed nearby railway stations. Railway engineering teams and police officers visited the site to inspect the damage. They quickly refilled the gravel, enabling the resumption of train services.

As part of the track repair, train services on this route were temporarily suspended. The Intercity Express, which left Talaguppa at 5:15 AM, was halted between Sagara and Anandapura stations.

This train is currently delayed by about 2 hours. Additionally, the Kuvempu Express, which departed Talaguppa for Mysuru at 6:15 AM, is also running late due to the disruption.
