Bengaluru: The BJP has announced statewide protests on Monday against the government’s decision to withdraw the prosecution of those accused in the Hubballi riots case. The protests will be led by state president B.Y. Vijayendra at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park.

In a meeting, BJP leaders decided to organize protests in all district centers. Prominent leaders, including opposition leader R. Ashoka, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, former Deputy CM Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, and Bengaluru city BJP president S. Harish, along with others, are expected to join the Bengaluru protest.

The case has become a significant issue for the BJP, with the party using it as a key political weapon. Alongside protests, the party also plans to challenge the decision to drop the prosecution in court.

CM’s Arrogance: Joshi’s Allegation

Hubballi: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for what he termed “arrogant behavior” after BJP MLAs were not allowed to submit a memorandum demanding the continuation of the NIA investigation into the Old Hubballi Police Station attack case. Joshi accused the CM of refusing to accept their petition under the pretext of security.

Speaking to the press, Joshi pointed out that it is not uncommon for opposition parties to submit memoranda to the Chief Minister, citing instances from Yediyurappa’s tenure when Congress leaders submitted petitions. Joshi remarked that the CM’s refusal is “tantamount to supporting terrorists.”
