MLA Munirathna granted bail in rape case

Bengaluru: BJP MLA Muniratna, who was jailed in connection with a rape case, has been granted bail by the 82nd Special Court for the People’s Representatives on Tuesday (October 15).

Earlier, on Monday, three other accused in the case were granted anticipatory bail. The 4th accused, Kiran Kumar, along with his friends, Accused No. 5 Lohith Kumar and Accused No. 6 Manjunath, were also given bail. The court imposed the condition that they must cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

Munirathna is facing charges of honey-trapping and rape. The case is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), with Munirathna being named the prime accused (Accused No. 1).

The complaint was lodged at Kaggalipura Police Station in Ramanagara district by a woman from Bengaluru, accusing Munirathna of sexual harassment. Consequently, a rape case was registered against Munirathna at the Kaggalipura Police Station.

The victim alleged that she was raped at a resort in Kaggalipura and filed a complaint against him. A total of seven people, including Munirathna, have been booked in the case. The FIR has been filed under various sections, including BNS Sections 354A, 354C, 376, 506, 504, 120(B), 149, 384, 406, and 308.
