Uppinangady: A youth, who tried to enter a residential premises in the Periyadka area of Uppinangady, fled after the residents woke up late at night. The incident was caught on local CCTV cameras. His suspicious activities have caused concern among the residents.

Locals alleged that, the same youth had broken into a house, entered the women’s bedroom, and fled when they became aware. In another incident, he reportedly tried to peep through the bathroom window while a young woman was bathing. Following these events, the individual, a local merchant named Abdul Rahiman, was caught by the police. The residents had felt some relief after his arrest.

However, locals claimed that similar incidents have resumed. Recently, around 3:30 AM, the youth attempted to break into a house in Janata Colony, Periyadka. When the resident became alert, he jumped the fence and hid nearby. His escape attempts and movements were captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

Speaking about the case, Uppinangady Sub-Inspector Avinash stated that no official complaint had been filed yet, but a verbal complaint was received. Upon visiting the location, the CCTV footage was reviewed. The authorities are also investigating whether the youth caught on camera is the same individual who was previously arrested for similar acts. However, the person seen in the footage does not match the earlier suspect. Investigations are ongoing.
