Mangaluru: The investigation into the murder of private bus conductor Rajesh near Indira Canteen, close to Hamilton Circle, has gained momentum.
Rajesh, who worked as a conductor on a private bus operating between Mangaluru and Vitla, was found dead on Monday. His body was discovered in a condition suggesting that he had been bludgeoned to death with a stone.
Initially, his identity was unknown, and the police had kept the body at Wenlock Hospital’s mortuary. Later, it was revealed that Rajesh was a resident of Bajpe. He had no parents and was survived by a sister. His family has since claimed the body and performed the last rites.
Rajesh used to reside in a rented room in Mangaluru and commute to work as a bus conductor. He was also involved in money dealings, raising suspicions that his murder might be related to these transactions, though the exact motive will only become clear once the suspects are apprehended.
Rajesh was known for his calm nature, and his murder shocked his colleagues and friends. Police have reviewed CCTV footage from the State Bank area, and reports suggest that they have found some leads regarding the suspects.
