The injured are identified as Aramanegaya Tejakumar, Kusumadhara Ulvaru, and Chandrashekara Kompuli.

Tejakumar was returning home after finishing work in Markanja when the suspension bridge’s rope snapped causing him to fall off the bridge. Tejakumar managed to hold onto the rope and escaped with minor injuries.

Two other persons — Kusumadhara Ulvaru, Chandrashekara Kompuli — who were also on the bridge,  suffered injuries due to the fall. All three were admitted to a medical college in Sullia for treatment.

Notably, Udayavani newspaper had in its report raised concerns about the safety of the suspension bridge which is in a dilapidated state.
