Bengaluru: In a major relief for students, Karnataka’s Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, announced that there will be no board exams this year for students of classes 5, 8, 9, and 11. This decision comes in light of an ongoing case in the Supreme Court.
Responding to media queries, the minister stated that instead of board exams, Summative Assessment-2 (SA-2) will be conducted for students of classes 5, 8, and 9. For class 11, an annual exam will be held.
Shiksha Copilot App:
A new app, “Shiksha Copilot,” has been launched with the aim of improving students’ academic results. The app provides teachers with comprehensive teaching resources, lesson plans, and relevant material in different languages to enhance the learning experience.
Speaking at an event organized to mark a partnership between Shiksha Foundation and Microsoft Research India, Madhu Bangarappa mentioned that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had written a letter suggesting the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in school education. Following his advice and the vision of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the education department is now incorporating AI to benefit both students and teachers.
The app is being piloted in 750 schools across all districts of the state, covering 1,000 teachers. If successful, it will be extended to 1 lakh teachers. Initially, the app will offer resources for subjects like Science, Social Science, and four languages.
