Surathkal: Engineering student drowns at beach

Surathkal: An engineering student from a private college in Mukka drowned while swimming in the sea at the Suratkal Beach on Sunday evening.

The deceased student has been identified as Tilak (21), a native of Shivamogga.

Tilak, who was residing in a rented house in Idya, had gone for an evening outing with his friends to the beach. he was caught by a strong wave and pulled away by the current while swimming in the beach waters.

His body was recovered from the water later in the evening by locals.
