Udupi: In a shocking incident near the old KSRTC bus stand in Udupi, a man killed his friend by slitting his throat following a minor argument. The gruesome incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a ground-floor room in the Krishna Krupa Building.
The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Shetty (32), a resident of Korangrapadi. The accused, identified as Eeranna, also known as Dinesh, hails from Huvina Hadagali in Vijayanagar district.
Both men were heavily intoxicated and got into an argument, which quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, Eeranna used a sharp knife to slit Prashanth’s throat.
Prashanth sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Following the murder, the accused Eeranna himself called the police and confessed to killing his friend. Police arrived at the scene, arrested Eeranna, and took him to the station for further questioning.
Senior police officials, including SP Dr. Arun K., ASP Siddalingappa, and other officers, visited the crime scene to conduct an investigation. Forensic experts also collected evidence. While initial reports suggest that the murder occurred due to a trivial reason, authorities are investigating whether there were other motives behind the crime.
