Farangipete: Two youths critically injured in sword attack

Bantwal: In a violent incident on Wednesday, October 23, two youths were seriously injured in a sword attack near Ammemar, close to Farangipete, following a previous altercation.

The victims, identified as Tasleem and Mohammed Shakeer, are currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Mangaluru.

According to reports, local residents Mansoor, Pulti Imran, Mustaq alias Mitcha, Sarfuddin, Ashraf, Rizwan, Safwan, Adnan, Nisaq, Yasir, Suhail, Jaheed, Sadiq, and Latif have been named as the accused in the case.

The incident occurred when Tasleem, Mohammed Shakeer, Naseer, Siyab, and Saifuddin were engaged in a conversation. Tasleem received a phone call during which the accused allegedly hurled abuses at him and challenged him to meet at a specified location.

When they arrived near Ammemar School, Mansoor and his group were waiting. Pulti Imran allegedly attacked Tasleem with a sword, injuring his right leg, while another accused, Mustaq, struck his right arm. Sarfuddin reportedly hit him with a stone, and when Tasleem fell to the ground, Mansoor slashed his face with the sword. The attackers also inflicted similar injuries on Mohammed Shakeer. Ashraf, Rizwan, and Latif allegedly beat the victims with wooden sticks.

Both victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where Tasleem is being treated in the intensive care unit.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.
