Bengaluru: Another under-construction building within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits has tilted, causing panic among nearby residents.

Following the tragic collapse of a building in Babusapalya that claimed the lives of eight workers, a six-storey under-construction building in Nanjappa Garden near Horamavu has now tilted, raising concerns in the area. The building, owned by Puttappa, is located in Nanjappa Garden and has started to lean to one side.

BBMP has issued instructions, and the owner has agreed to demolish the structure. Although the owner had permission to construct a four-storey building, he had illegally built six storeys.

Responding to a notice from BBMP officials, the owner reportedly assured in writing that he would bear the cost of demolition. BBMP has now instructed the immediate demolition of the tilted building. Banashankari Sub-Division ACP Umashankar has visited the site for inspection.

Residents Evacuated

In a nearby area in Babusapalya, where another five-storey unauthorized building was marked for demolition, the residents of adjacent houses have been evacuated, according to the Assistant Engineer from Chelekere Ward. Bescom officials have cut the power supply to ensure safety. Since the owner is now voluntarily demolishing the illegal structure, the BBMP has sought police protection to ensure the demolition is carried out safely.

DSCM D.K. Shivakumar Orders Demolition of Unauthorized Building

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who is also Bengaluru’s Development Minister, has ordered the demolition of the unauthorized five-storey building in Nanjappa Garden, which was built on a 12×30-foot plot. He stated that all illegal and substandard constructions posing risks to public safety should be addressed immediately, instructing BBMP officials to take strict action.

He emphasized that no unauthorized constructions within the BBMP limits, built without proper permissions, should be spared. He also warned that negligence in such matters would not be tolerated, urging officials to ensure swift action.
