Manipal: Car loses control, falls into drain

Manipal: A car lost control and fell into a roadside drain near Eshwar Nagar, along an old road close to the sewage treatment area on Sunday, October 27.

The passengers, who were on their way from Udupi to Kudremukh for a trip, fortunately escaped uninjured, although the vehicle was damaged.

The incident has brought attention to the poor condition of the National Highway in the area, where scientific road construction has been neglected.

Potholes have reappeared, and the road cuts across the highway in an unscientific manner, forcing vehicles to swerve to avoid uneven surfaces and resulting in frequent accidents.

Local residents are urging the district administration to take corrective measures to improve road safety in the area.
