Kaup: Tanker hits motorbike; rider killed

Kaup: A motorcyclist lost his life when a tanker collided with his bike near the Koppalangadi bus stand on National Highway 66 on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Harish Kumar (45), a resident of Koppalangadi, Kaup, who worked as a tailor.

The tanker, traveling from Mangaluru to Udupi, struck the rear end of Harish’s bike, throwing him onto the road and causing serious injuries. Local residents rushed him to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

The incident is reportedly due to the tanker driver’s negligence. A case has been registered against the driver, Gedigeyappa Kote from Uttara Kannada district. The Kaup Police have initiated an investigation.
